How Liquid Gold is different from all other tests

VARL Liquid Gold technology is unique in every aspect compared to the ELISA method of testing.  Liquid Gold utilizes liquid-phase matrix technology but the ELISA is a solid-phase based methodology.  With VARL Liquid Gold, allergen-specific IgE in patient serum are first captured with VARL’s unique liquid allergen matrix.  The liquid allergen-IgE matrix complex is then isolated into a new microplate before quantifying the transferred IgE.  These additional four procedures in Liquid Gold, which are impossible in ELISA , allow us to offer you higher sensitivity and virtual elimination of false positive reactions.

ELISA

In ELISA solid-phase methodology, the entire testing procedure, from the start of testing to quantification of bound IgE, is performed inside the same microplate well.  There is, therefore, no way of knowing the amount of non-specific IgE that are quantified along with the specific IgE.

Liquid Gold        ELISA
1. A ligand is attached to allergen which remains in solution    1. No equivalent procedure
2. Microplate #1 IgE antibodies are first captured by allergen in liquid-phase matrix  2. IgE are captured by allergen on solid-phase
3. The allergen-IgE complex formed is transferred to new microplate #2    3. No equivalent procedure
4. Non-specifically adsorbed IgE are left behind in microplate #1       4. No equivalent procedure
5. Allergen-IgE complex is anchored in microplate #2 using an anti-ligand  5. No equivalent procedure
6. The microplate is washed                  6. The microplate is washed
7. Only allergen-bound IgE are quantified in microplate #2    7.  All bound IgE are quantified-specific IgE as well as non-specific IgE inside the microplate
